Newgate establishes a UK market and social research practice

Newgate Communications establishes a UK market and social research practice headed by Managing Partner Dan Clay

Newgate Communications has launched a market and social research practice Newgate Research UK. The new business offers Newgate clients high-quality integrated research services to complement its existing communications practice and also represents a new entrant to the market and social research sector that clients can access independently of the Newgate Communications practice.

This initiative builds on the success of Newgate Research in Australia where the business is well established with a team of 17 consultants working within the broader Newgate Communications business. Established five years ago it is now one of the country’s go-to firms for issues, communications, public affairs and reputation research amongst the community, stakeholders, customers and employees.

Newgate Research UK will be led by Managing Partner Dan Clay. It will provide clients with objective advice and guidance to support business strategy, communications and reputation management, leveraging Newgate’s existing public relations expertise across both the public and private sectors, as well as the successful Newgate Research business in Australia.

Underpinned by a range of proven research solutions, key services will include:

  • Consumer and citizen insights into expectations and experiences, behaviours and attitudes
  • Community, stakeholder and investor engagement, including public dialogue
  • Communications development, testing and evaluation
  • Rapid response research, providing insight within 24-48 hours
  • Reputation research to understand drivers of stakeholder sentiment
  • Employee research to promote organisational alignment, recruitment and retention

Dan brings with him almost 20 years’ experience as a social and market researcher. Prior to joining Newgate, Dan was an Executive Director and the Head of Qualitative Research at the public sector research arm of Kantar, part of WPP. He has led high-profile research and evaluation projects for central government departments, national and international businesses and charities across a wide range of sectors including personal finance and financial services, transport and infrastructure, property and housing, education, employment and welfare.

Dan is a Trustee of the Social Research Association and a Certified Member of the Market Research Society. Newgate Research is working toward ISO 20252 accreditation (the international standard for market research), demonstrating Newgate Research’s commitment to high quality processes underpinning its research and insight offer.
