Newgate board appointment gives top three roles to women

Newgate Communications is pleased to announce that Nina Dowell, Chief Operating Officer, has been appointed to the company’s board resulting in the most senior managerial roles in the company, Executive Chair, Chief Executive and COO, being held by women. Nina is responsible for all Newgate’s administrative functions supporting the effectiveness of client-facing teams in the UK and is a member of the UK’s Senior Leadership Team.

Admired for her team spirit and good humour as much as her determination and her negotiation skills, Nina is responsible for finance, IT and facilities and talent acquisition. Nina began working with Newgate Chief Executive, Emma Kane, in 2010 when the agency Emma founded, Redleaf Communications, acquired Polhill where Nina had been Chief Financial Officer since October 1999; Redleaf was merged with Newgate in November last year.

Nina is mother to triplets and married to a former professional ice-hockey player from the US. She is an avid sports fan with Manchester United her top team.

Commenting on Nina’s appointment Deborah Saw, Newgate’s Executive Chair said:

“We are very proud of the fact that the three most senior roles in our agency, are held by women at a time when the industry as a whole is making great efforts to increase its gender diversity at the leadership level. Nina brings a wealth of experience, expertise and insight to the board.  She is a key member of the team and I couldn’t be more delighted for her… and us.”

Nina Dowell added: “I am delighted to be appointed to the board of Newgate Communications as COO, continuing my successful partnership with our CEO Emma Kane.

“Newgate has many fantastic, talented people from diverse backgrounds who inspire me to do my best for them every day. It’s a challenging role but in the most supportive environment that anyone could ask for.”
